If you have asked – Will I be able to breast feed after breast augmentation?  The answer is, yes. Problems with breast feeding after breast augmentation are extremely rare when you choose an experienced and skilled surgeon. In fact, Dr. Rai has not encountered breast feeding issues after breast augmentation in any of his patients. A recent study found that breastfeeding does not cause sagging in women with breast implants, although pregnancy itself can cause sagging.

Breast Implants and Milk Production

There is a theoretical risk of diminished milk production because of compression from implants. Periareolar incisions also have potential risk of disrupting the milk ducts at time of operation. Both problems are extremely rare, and you generally do not need to be concerned about it.

What many women are not told is that they may be predisposed to problems with milk production, even without surgery. Insufficient glandular tissue reduces the amount of milk you can produce.

Safety of Nursing with Silicone Implants

Some women worry about silicone from their implants getting into the breast milk. It is understandable that as a mother, you want to cover all of your bases when it comes to your baby’s safety. There is no need to worry about this one. The cohesive gel in today’s silicone implants will not leak into your breast milk.
