In Dallas, facelift is a great way to restore a more youthful facial appearance. As we age, facial skin begins to droop downward, resulting in a number of undesirable effects. A facelift helps reverse the facial signs of aging.

There is not really a best age for a facelift. Most patients seeking the procedure are in their 40s or 50s, but older and younger people may also be candidates for a facelift. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), people age 55 and older made up 66 percent of facelift patients in 2010. People from age 40 to 54 made up 32 percent, while those aged 30 to 39 made up only 2 percent.

Typically, people younger than 30 do not need a facelift. At this age, facial skin is taut and has not begun to sag. People aged 20 to 29 did not make up any portion of facelift patients in the ASPS data.

Instead of basing your decision only on your age, there are several factors you should consider, including:

  • Facial characteristics
  • Desired aesthetic outcome
  • Financial stability
  • Current medical conditions
  • Current overall health

Around the mid-40s, people begin to display facial signs of aging. People from age 40 to 80 have sought facelifts to correct:

  • Deep “nasolabial folds,” which are the creases running from your nose down toward your mouth.
  • Drooping skin around your jaw, which are known as “jowls.”
  • Sagging skin underneath your chin.
  • Cheeks that droop downward.
  • Sagging turkey neck.

Although the best age for a facelift ultimately depends on many factors, receiving the procedure in your 40s may be a good choice. In your 40s and early 50s, your skin retains some elasticity, which can provide better results that last longer than if you receive a facelift in your mid-60s and beyond.
