This traditional liposuction is still done in some cases. Dr. Rai uses whichever type of liposuction is best for each particular patient. Tumescent liposuction is a variation on the traditional method, using a larger amount of the same fluid. The increased amount makes more space between the muscle and fat and more room for the cannula. Third, there is Ultrasound-Assisted liposuction (UAL), which is a variation of tumescent liposuction. The difference is that the cannula vibrates from ultrasound. This liquefies the fat more easily and quickly. Ultrasound is sound vibration above our range of human hearing.
