Surveys Show Patients Want Long-Lasting Facial Rejuvenation Results, not Quick Fixes
In response to the economic recession, women and men seeking facial plastic surgery, including facelifts, are willing to postpone these procedures, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. The Society reviewed two surveys from the September, 2011 issue of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal.
Facelifts and other surgical facial procedures provide gradual, long-term rejuvenation effects, while BOTOX, facial fillers and other non-surgical treatments tend to provide immediate, short-term results. According to the two surveys, the economic recession has adjusted which procedures patients elect. Of those surveyed, 59 percent delayed or postponed a surgical procedure (73 percent of these patients were willing to wait one to two years), while 32 percent chose a cheaper procedure.
When making cosmetic choices, the majority of patients were concerned with physician training and expertise. Patients were also highly influenced by how long results last. To lesser degrees, patients’ decisions were influenced by cost and invasiveness.
A facelift may provide a refreshed, more youthful facial appearance for as many as 10 years. Injectables, facial fillers and chemical peels tend to last a year at the most. Finding the right procedure for you depends on your expectations of your aesthetic outcome, recovery and your current facial aging characteristics.
For women and men living in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas, facelifts and other facial rejuvenation procedures are individualized to each patient by board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Vasdev Rai. Please contact the Cosmetic Surgical Center to schedule a consultation.
