What is a tummy tuck?  For more information, speak with Dallas plastic surgeon Dr. Vasdev Rai.

A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is a surgical procedure which can give you a flatter, more beautiful tummy. Tummy tuck is not a weight loss procedure, but can put the finishing touches on weight loss by removing the excess skin which has been stretched to the point that is cannot go back to normal. It is also appropriate for women whose skin and abdominal muscles have been stretched by pregnancy.

A tummy tuck removes excess skin and stubborn fat which has not responded to diet and exercise. It also tightens muscles which have been stretched to the point that exercise alone cannot tighten them.

The procedure begins with an incision made along the bikini/panty line. The skin and fat are lifted off the underlying abdominal muscle. The muscle is then tightened with sutures to give the abdomen a more contoured and shapely appearance and create a tighter core. Then the abdominal skin is re-draped over the muscle, and the excess skin and fat are removed to create a flatter and more aesthetically pleasing tummy.

If needed, we can remove love handles with liposuction along with your tummy tuck so you do not have to come back for a separate procedure.
