What are Common Areas that are Treated with Liposuction?
The areas most commonly treated with liposuction are the abdomen, waistline, back, saddle bags, back of thighs, inner thighs and knees. However, liposuction is effective for body shaping wherever there is excess fat. Double chin can be corrected with liposuction. In men, liposuction can be used to reduce breasts (gynecomastia). Very targeted procedures are also used to define and enhance the appearance of breasts, pectoral muscles, and abdominal muscles.
Removing Pockets of Unwanted Fat
Liposuction can be used to remove stubborn, unwanted pockets of fat just about anywhere on the body, including:
- Abdomen
- Buttocks
- Waist
- Saddle bags
- Back of thighs
- Inner thighs
- Knees
- Calves
- Ankles
- Bra line
- Under the chin
- Face
- Armpits
- Sides of the chest
Sculpting and Defining
Liposuction is commonly performed on the sides of the chest to define the breast outline, and can be performed in the armpits to help define breast shape. Abdominal and pectoral etching are very targeted liposuction procedures which reveal and give more definition to your abdominal and pectoral muscles. These are particularly rewarding for patients who work out and have established the muscle structure, but find that it is hidden beneath an unresponsive layer of fat.
