Labiaplasty
Conveniently located to serve Dallas and Fort Worth
Labiaplasty, also referred to as labiaplasty or vaginal rejuvenation, is one of the fastest growing trends in cosmetic surgery. Labiaplasty surgery is a procedure many women are choosing to undergo as a way to enhance the appearance of their genitalia.
Labiaplasty is a procedure Dallas plastic surgeon Dr. Rai can perform to reduce the size of the inner lips of the vulva. For many women elongated inner lips can cause self-consciousness when wearing thongs, skimpy bikini bottoms, or other underwear. In some cases, prominent labia can even affect everyday activities, and in some cases, they can even interfere with sexual activity.
For most women, the protrusion of the inner lips of the vulva, or labia minora, is a congenital variation in anatomy. Even though many women have protruding labia minora, for some, it is a problem that they would like to correct.
Dallas Labiaplasty Surgery
If you are unhappy with protruding labia minora, or inner vulva lips, you may be a good candidate for Dallas Labiaplasty surgery from Dr. Rai. Dr. Rai can help you enhance the appearance of your vagina so that you are no longer self-conscious.
Each Labiaplasty patient is unique, and during your initial consultation, Dr. Rai will listen to the results you would like to achieve and help you determine exactly what types of enhancements you would like to have made.
During the Labiaplasty procedure, you will be placed under general anesthesia so that you don’t feel any discomfort during the surgery. The recovery period from Labiaplasty is relatively short. After the procedure, there may be 5 – 10 days of discomfort, and the full recovery usually takes 2 – 3 weeks.
Many women who choose to have Labiaplasty, also choose to have other cosmetic procedures like liposuction, breast augmentation, or face lifts to provide themselves with a whole new look.
Here are some brief descriptions of procedures commonly called “labiaplasty / labiaplasty“:
Labia Minora Reduction or Reshaping – Labiaplasty may be performed on the labia minora (inner labia) to reduce their size or reshape them. Labiaplasty can correct the labia minora if they are protrusive beyond the labia majora, or if they cause discomfort in tight-fitting clothes, during sexual activity, or have stretched due to childbirth.
Labia Majora Surgery – Labiaplasty of the labia majora (outer labia) is performed to change their size. Most commonly, they are reduced because they are uncomfortably large or because of uneven or asymmetrical shaping.
Clitoral Hood Refinement – Sometimes the hood of skin that covers the clitoris may prevent it from being stimulated during intercourse. Clitoral hood refinement is designed to increase a woman’s sexual pleasure. You can learn more about clitoral hood refinement on our What is clitoral hood reduction? page.
Monsplasty – The mons, also called the mons pubis or mons venus, is the area directly above a woman’s external genitalia. Mons is Latin for mound and for most women this area is slightly raised. Women with excessive skin left after weight loss or due to genetics may desire monsplasty for a smoother, more feminine appearance.
Mons Reduction – Mons reduction is similar to monsplasty, but uses liposuction for reduction. This procedure is appropriate when there is excess fatty tissue under the skin, but no overlying skin flap.

Labiaplasty Questions
Why labiaplasty is becoming increasingly popular surgical procedure?
There are many reasons:
CLOTHING STYLES. Active wear and swim wear of today is designed for close and slim fit. Hypertrophic labial tissues / excessive labial tissue causes discomfort and visible bulges in these clothes. Inadvertent labial show is also a possibility in thongs and bikinis. Such concerns have lead more women to seek labiaplasty.
SOCIAL OPENNESS. Society has become more open about discussions of sex and sexuality related issues.
INTERNET AND SOCIAL MEDIA FORUMS have also brought this issue to an open space.
How do I choose my labiaplasty surgeon?
Gynecology and Plastic Surgery are two surgical specialties that are specialized in labiaplasty. Each of these specialties bring its own skill set to this surgery. Good outcome from any surgery depends on the underlying skill of surgeon and surgeon’s artistic ability.
Patient should do their research with due diligence to find a surgeon among these two specialties. Look for one with experience and good outcomes.
What is the most common form of Labiaplasty?
Labiaplasty of labia minora is most common. This is also because labia minoras are more commonly affected with hypertrophy. Labia majora and clitoral hood surgery is needed or desired for reasons of their own.
What is proper age to have labiaplasty?
There are two age groups when patients seek labiaplasty.
TEENS AND EARLY 20s This is when genital development is complete. Patients in this age group may become self-conscious of their appearance or be simply bothered by mechanical interference posed by labial tissues to intercourse.
SECOND SET of labiaplasties are done to correct acquired changes to labia. Childbirth injuries and stretching can lead to irregularities and hypertrophy of labia minora. These then will need their corrections.
Will child birth affect result of labiaplasty?
Yes, child birth causes fresh injury to birth canal and genitals. Labia undergo new injury and may sustain new tears. Labiaplasty which was done earlier may need to be re-done.
Does Labiaplasty affect orgasm?
Orgasm depends on many factors, many of these not fully understood. Some of these factors are real, others, simply products of mind. Thus, labiaplasty may affect this physiological and psychological response in varied and unpredictable ways.
