Labiaplasty vs Vaginoplasty
Sometimes women who search for vaginoplasty information would actually want to know more about labiaplasty. Labiaplasty / Labiaplasty is sometimes incorrectly called vaginoplasty, which creates confusion. There are a number of procedures available for the female genital area, including:
The difference between vaginoplasty and labiaplasty is important to understand, since they correct very different conditions.
During childbirth, the vaginal muscles and connective tissue stretch and sometimes they tear. Typically they shrink back to their original condition, especially in young women. But in some cases, they remain stretched and loose. This can change vaginal sensations and may reduce the intensity of sexual experience. Vaginoplasty tightens the vaginal muscles to restore its tone.
Like vaginal tissue, the labia, particularly the inner labia, may stretch during childbirth. This stretching may be visible, causing the inner labia to protrude beyond the outer labia. It may also be uncomfortable, creating friction when you wear snug clothing, such as jeans or swimsuits. The outer labia, (labia majora), may also become stretched with age, creating a bulge in close-fitted clothing, or making fitted clothes uncomfortable to wear.
Labiaplasty enhances the labia minora or labia majora, or both, to diminish discomfort, or to give a neater, more youthful appearance. Labiaplasty has recently become a popular procedure for women who may be comfortable with their appearance most of the time, but not when they wear fitted clothing. There are many reasons women give in answer to the question of Why have labiaplasty?
