A forehead and brow lift is a surgical procedure designed to elevate sagging brows and smooth out deep forehead wrinkles.

How to Prepare for a Brow Lift

Request for 5 to 7 days of time off work in advance. This initial recovery period for a brow lift will help you get enough rest and recover more quickly.

Prepare enough pillows on your bed to elevate your head when sleeping. This position will protect the newly lifted brows and rejuvenated forehead from being touched.

Get a companion to drive you on the day of your brow/forehead lift. It is important to get as much assistance as possible in the first 24 hours after the procedure.

What to Expect on the Day of Forehead & Brow Lift Surgery

Surgery is performed with an incision made just at the frontal hairline (most of the time) or just behind the hairline (sometimes). The forehead skin is elevated at the subcutaneous plane or a deeper (subgaleal) plane down to the base of the nose and eyebrows.

The corrugator and procerus muscles, which are responsible for frowning and the lines above the nose, are partially cut and removed. This results in a smoother forehead appearance. The eyebrows are positioned in a more desirable position, and the forehead skin is draped over the underlying bony surface. Excess skin is removed, and the forehead incision is repaired with fine stitches.

Forehead & Brow Lift Recovery

Your Guide to Post-Brow Lift Care

The surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure. Patients go home with a light head dressing. The hair can be washed two to three days after surgery. Stitches are removed in five to seven days after surgery. Pain is minimal. Most swelling subsides after around three weeks.
