Facelift patients want to rejuvenate the appearance of their faces for a more youthful, refreshed look. In a Turkish study, researchers asked women of various ages about areas of their faces with which they were most dissatisfied.
Your face is what you see most often in the mirror. Women of all different ages tend to focus on the areas of their face with which they are dissatisfied, according to the Turkish study published earlier this year in Aesthetic Surgery Journal. According to the study:
Women in their 20s are most concerned with their nose and facial skin.
Women in their 30s and 40s […]
Created by a woman named Kimberly Aschauer, the Facelift Bungee is supposed to be a non-surgical way to rejuvenate the face. Like a forehead lift, the device is supposed to eliminate signs of aging on the forehead. The device is sold in a little plastic container that looks like face-cream packaging. It’s selling for $25.
The Facelift Bungee is two little combs connected by a bungee. Each comb is placed in a small braid you make on either side of your head. The bungee goes around the back of your head, pulling back on the hair and skin where the combs […]
After significant weight loss, you may experience widespread skin sagginess, including on your face. This skin droopiness can be especially dramatic among obese people who have lost large amounts of fat following weight-loss surgery. Facelift surgery and body contouring procedures can be an effective way of removing excess, drooping skin.
With obesity a rising problem across the country, many Americans are having weight-loss surgery. Body contouring is a common follow-up to such surgeries, but there are facial signs of volume loss as well.
When you lose significant weight, your face loses fat volume. With less fat, the stretched skin takes on a […]
Last year, the popularity of male facelifts grew slightly, by 3 percent, compared to 2010, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). Of the 119,026 facelifts performed by ASPS surgeons that year, 11,214 of those procedures belonged to men.
Although only a minority of total facelift procedures, men steadily pursue this form of facial rejuvenation. The goals of a facelift for both men and women include:
Eliminating sagging facial skin
Smoothing facial wrinkles and lines
Tightening drooping facial muscles
Although facelifts for both men and women should rejuvenate youthful facial qualities, plastic surgeon Dr. Vasdev Rai may personalize your endoscopic facelift procedure to […]
Ultherapy is one of the hot new facial rejuvenation procedures – no pun intended. Ultherapy uses ultrasound technology to heat facial skin, which is supposed to tighten skin laxity by stimulating production of collagen and produce results similar to a forehead lift.
Ultherapy has been praised for providing facelift-like results at a significantly lower cost and without incisions. Although Ultherapy may yield some degree of facial rejuvenation, the surgical tightening – such as occurs in a facelift – of a drooping facial contour simply cannot be achieved with a non-surgical procedure.
The surgical advantages of a facelift include:
Sculpting of the underlying fat […]
Chin implant procedures soared last year, among both men and women, according to statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Overall, chin implant demand increased 71 percent in 2011 compared to 2010. There was a 66 percent increase among women in 2011, and a 76 percent increase among men.
The greatest demand came from people older than 40, although there were also significant increases among people in their 20s and 30s as well.
Speculation has abounded regarding the reasons behind the increase for this facial procedure. The rise in both facelifts and chin implants may be attributable to:
Widespread use of video […]
In response to the economic recession, women and men seeking facial plastic surgery, including facelifts, are willing to postpone these procedures, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. The Society reviewed two surveys from the September, 2011 issue of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal.
Facelifts and other surgical facial procedures provide gradual, long-term rejuvenation effects, while BOTOX, facial fillers and other non-surgical treatments tend to provide immediate, short-term results. According to the two surveys, the economic recession has adjusted which procedures patients elect. Of those surveyed, 59 percent delayed or postponed a surgical procedure (73 percent of these patients were […]
According to a report from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the top five cosmetic surgery procedures in 2011 were:
Breast augmentation
Rhinoplasty
Liposuction
Eyelid surgery
Facelift
Facelifts had the greatest increase with a five percent rise from 2010.
According to the information from the ASPS 2011 Plastic Surgery Statistics Report, significantly more people sought plastic surgery in 2011, even with a sluggish economy. Actual surgical procedures rose by 2 percent from 2010, while non-surgical procedures increased 6 percent. Overall, total cosmetic procedures were up 5 percent from 2010.
At the Cosmetic Surgical Center, plastic surgeon Dr. Vasdev Rai has extensive experience in cosmetic surgical procedures. Despite […]
Apparently, a plastic surgeon recently claimed in the Belling Herald that the way you sleep can affect how old you look. Although lifestyle adjustments like these may prevent wrinkles, plastic surgery procedures like a facelift are typically more effective.
The idea behind the sleep claim is that, if you sleep on your side or stomach, the pressure of your face against your pillow can create lines in your skin, which will eventually form wrinkles.
Claims like these are not at all uncommon. For as long as we have cared about beauty, suggestions have abounded regarding non-surgical ways to look younger, including making […]
A recent study has found that a facelift combined with other cosmetic procedures provides a rejuvenated facial appearance making you appear seven or more years younger. The study was published last month in Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery.
The 60 people included in the study were divided into three groups based on the cosmetic procedures they received:
Group 1: facelift and neck lift
Group 2: facelift, neck lift, and eyelid surgery
Group 3: facelift, neck lift, eyelid surgery, and forehead lift
The pre and postoperative photos of the patients were shown to medical students, in no particular order. The students were asked to guess the […]
