Growing Demand for Butt Enhancement

According to some plastic surgeons, more patients are requesting buttock lifts and buttock augmentations. Buttock lifts increased 38 percent in 2011 compared to 2010, and buttock implant procedures increased 43 percent in 2011 compared to 2010, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. A buttocks lift or augmentation may be the right way for you to achieve the lower body appearance you want. Butt lifts are often performed as part of a lower […]

Plastic Surgery Not Just for the Stars

With the passing of comedienne Phyllis Diller last month, stories are widespread of her brazen humor, her courage and her self-confidence. Among the praises of Diller is mention of the fact that she never shied away from speaking openly about her facelifts and other plastic surgery procedures she had. Ms. Diller wanted to look a certain way, so she went after that goal. In years past, plastic surgery was always associated with stardom. To this day, many people assume celebrities are the major consumers of plastic surgery. In fact, everyday women are pursuing their goals – cosmetic and otherwise – just […]

Dallas among Top Ten Appearance-Conscious US Cities

Using data from a few different sources, Men’s Health magazine created a list of “The Most Vain Cities in America.” A major factor in the development of their list was plastic surgery. Specifically, numbers of plastic surgeons and rates at which residents receive plastic surgery. Although Men’s Health has dubbed certain cities “the vainest,” the list really shows that people in some of America’s biggest, most exciting cities are taking charge of their appearance, which may improve your self-image and confidence. Today, plastic surgery is more commonplace than ever before, and men and women alike are finding ways to look as […]

Photo Exhibition Depicts the Evolving Concept of Beauty Created by Plastic Surgery

A new exhibit from photographer Phillip Toledano is a series of images of people who have undergone plastic surgery. These men and women have undergone combinations of different facial rejuvenation procedures, as well as breast augmentation and pec implants. The results of the procedure can be described as “extreme.” The results are obviously not supposed to look natural, and perhaps one of the main ideas of the exhibit is to challenge the very idea of beauty. Portraying subjects in something like Renaissance-style portraiture, Toledano’s work has been called the “BOTOX Botticellis” by some media sources. With resolute facial expressions, the subjects […]

The study had several findings, including: 42 percent of patients learned most of the information they knew about plastic surgery from social media, an increase from only 29 percent of patients in 2010. Patients who learned their information from friends dropped to 48 percent, down from 63 percent in 2010. Most of the surgeons surveyed in the study said that their patients describe their areas of cosmetic dissatisfaction rather than asking for a specific plastic surgery procedure, such as liposuction […]

The Rise in Non-Specialist Plastic Surgery

A recent New York Times article titled “Ear Doctors Performing Face-Lifts? It happens,” addresses the increasing number of doctors providing plastic surgery procedures to their patients, regardless of the fact that the doctors are not specialists in plastic surgery. Because elective cosmetic procedures are not covered by insurance, doctors can conveniently charge their patients an out-of-pocket cost without the disappointment of a low insurance reimbursement. So, is there anything wrong with receiving liposuction from an ear, nose and throat doctor? Not necessarily, but the risks of receiving surgery from a non-specialist include: Unsatisfactory results. Even though a doctor may have surgical experience, satisfactory […]
